Project Description

The Smart Safe project was designed to address the need for secure storage and controlled sharing of items among multiple users, integrating biometric authentication and cloud-based logging to enhance security. The system utilizes the ESP32 microcontroller as the central control unit, managing a solenoid lock for physical access control and an optical fingerprint scanner for biometric user authentication.

To further bolster security, the safe is equipped with an ESP32-CAM, which captures images of users during access attempts. These images are automatically uploaded to Google Drive for secure, cloud-based storage. The safe also logs every access attempt, recording details such as date, time, and user information in an Excel sheet stored on Google Drive, providing a reliable audit trail.

The combination of local hardware control and cloud integration ensures both the safety of stored items and accountability for access. The Smart Safe is ideal for environments such as offices, labs, or shared storage spaces where secure, controlled access is critical.
