Project Description

Agriculture plays a crucial role in the Indian economy, with sun-drying being an essential process for crops like corn and red chili before they are sold. However, a significant challenge in this process is protecting the harvested crops from unexpected rainfall, which can lead to considerable losses. Inefficient sun-drying methods contribute to post-harvest losses, particularly in fruits and vegetables, where losses can reach up to 30 to 40 percent.

This project addresses the issue by developing an IoT-based automated system that detects rainfall and automatically deploys a roof over the drying crops. By using sensors to monitor weather conditions, the system ensures that crops remain protected during the drying process, reducing losses and improving overall efficiency. This innovative approach leverages IoT technology to safeguard crops and support the agricultural sector by minimizing the risks associated with traditional sun-drying methods.
